Yoko's John Lennon Museum, which is about 30 mins outside of Tokyo, had to be one of my favorite places during the trip.
We got there at opening and had the museum pretty much to ourselves. First you watch a 10 min video of John's life and then you walk through the different sections of the museum. It's broken into different segments of John's life.
Original Rickenbackers were of course a highlight. He loved sanding his models down to the most basic of colours, as did he replace many of the more extravagant gold knobs with simple black ones (not on the Rickys).
A lot of his glasses and jackets were also there, as was many of his personal effects, preserved exactly how it was the day he died.
Really any music fan would appreciate the work gone into the musuem. Musicians and Lennon fans will naturally leave a little sad, but will take away inspiration more than anything else. Think of it less as a museum and more as a journey. |

| Sounds good - I wonder if they'd be interested in the "Lennon Rick" posted in the worst guitar thread. I've been to Liverpool John Lennon Airport a few times, but it's not quite the uplifting experience. |

Mikes come in with a heart felt report on a little known museum dedicated to one of our greatest songwriters and peace campaigners, then bass comes in and puts his size 10's all over it with stories of woe about airport travel.

I'm postive I saw 1BL on an episode of Airline at Liverpool complaining about lost luggage and surprise, surprise; lost tennis equipment.
But, yes, the museum was a great place and I have no doubt, much more enlightening than a visit to an airport. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take piccys. |

I went to Heathrow last week, and to be honest i'd been away so long i hardly knew the place.
No pictures Mike but i bet there were plenty of postcards to buy.
National trust bought, or were donated Lennon's childhood home, Mendips, and they restored it back to it's original condition, Im sure a few of our 'Northern' country boys have been there, perhaps they could comment??
