http://www.daisyrock.com/products/acoustic_guitars.htm probably have something. And despite half of them looking like shit on toast, they do have a few simple, non-girlie looking models.

A more expensive alternative is the Fender Mustang, Musicmaster and Duosonic. These were intended as student electrics and have a shorter scale length than Strats etc. The very early ones were a 22" scale, IIRC. You might find one on eBay, although the Mustangs are now getting pricey. The others may be more affordable.

Not sure what to recommend for an acoustic, though, assuming she wants an acoustic. I gather that Takamines have thinner necks than the average.

I would agree with Bass and say a Takamine, is it the width or bulk of the neck she has problems with? if its bulk then i would say get a cheapish acoustic and set about it with some grit paper, take some bulk out, of course it would need to be a slim neck to start.

I would just go to a music store and ask about getting a guitar with a different fretboard scale. They make guitars with all types of different sizes of fretboards. There are lots of people with small hands that like to play. That should be no problem!!
